You're Welcome (from Moana) is out now
My version of "You're Welcome" from Moana is out now! Charlie just turned two and she is completely obsessed with Moana. She acts out every single scene. So for her birthday we threw her a full Moana party, my dad dressed up as Maui, my mom cooked a spread of pork skewers and Filipino food, and it was one of the best days. I took the upbeat version of "You're Welcome," inspired by the Jordan Fisher cut, and made it my own. This one's for her. If you've already heard it, thank you so much for listening! Music Monday is back (You're Welcome)
Happy Music Monday, fam! We're officially bringing the weekly covers back, and I couldn't have picked a better one to kick it off. I just finished my cover of You're Welcome from Moana, and everyone in the club gets to hear it first. We took Charlie to the Moana live action premiere and she was in absolute heaven. It's her favorite movie, she watches it every single day, and getting to see her light up in that theater is the whole reason this one felt so good to record. It's not on Spotify yet. That comes in the next couple of weeks, and I'll send you a message the moment it goes live. For now, you get it here first. So consider this our little celebration. Press play, turn it up, and welcome back to Music Mondays. Trav

Song of the Week: How Far I'll Go
Hey friends! This week's song is my cover of How Far I'll Go from Moana. We got the chance to attend the Moana live actions premiere with Charlie! It's literally her favorite movie and she was blown away and locked in the entire time. I recorded this one back in 2017, and honestly, I had no idea that years later I'd have a two year old who's not only completely obsessed with Moana, but kind of looks like baby Moana too. Now this song plays in my house on repeat, and it hits so different every time. Listen here: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcVAOJp6cEU Spotify: Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/album/how-far-ill-go/1643978639?i=1643978640 And a little something I'm working on right now: a cover of You're Welcome. Not the classic version from The Rock, the soulful Jordan Fisher version, and I'm so excited about this one. It drops for everyone this week, and if you're a paid member, you'll get the record the second I'm finished with it. Thanks for being here. It means everything. Trav

New Podcast test episode - "Still Good?" Podcast
1 month ago
So ally wants me to launch a new podcast around interviewing friends that can help me understand this questions, "are the things we know still good for us?" So that I can pass along the lessons and learnings to our daughter Charlie, and we decided to try it out just her and I as a test. Since you're a member I wanted to show you first and see what you think, do you think I should make more of these?

Vocals Update: Coin Flip Weather
Tuned my vocals to sound better for "Coin Flip Weather" Ally and Charlie both told me it sounds SO MUCH BETTER. These vocals are not final but it's awesome getting to show you all how the sausage is made. Rarely do records just get completed in a day. It's really more like chipping away and shaping a stone into a sculpture. Let me know if this is already feeling better, your input helps shape the song. Thanks fam, hope you had an amazing weekend and have an even more amazing week! Thanks for being along this journey with me!

New Song: Coin Flip Weather
What feelings does this song give you? Please let me know in the comments below. (The vocals for now are just scratch vocals btw) Coin Flip Weather V1 I woke up with a match in my pocket And a paper crown on my head You said, Pick a lane, any lane So I picked the one that split in red I spilled my plan on the table It ran like honey on glass You laughed and said, That is you Half chaos, half holding fast Pre1 So I step, then I slip Then I land on my feet Every wrong turn Got a good side to meet Ch1 Coin flip weather, coin flip weather I'm all in, I'm all in Coin flip weather, coin flip weather I break, then I spin I break, then I spin V2 I took the long way home in the rain With a bag full of “maybe” and “soon” Your name hit my phone like a spark Then went quiet as a silver spoon I keep a map made of scrap notes Coffee rings and a parking stub Still I find you in the random In the shove, in the shove, in the rush, in the tug Pre2 So I step, then I slip Then I land on my feet Every wrong turn Got a good side to meet Ch2 Coin flip weather, coin flip weather I'm all in, I'm all in Coin flip weather, coin flip weather I break, then I spin I break, then I spin Br Maybe the sky changes names Maybe the road does too I don't need clean lines, baby I just need somewhere true Chorus (final) Coin flip weather, coin flip weather I'm all in, I'm all in Coin flip weather, coin flip weather I break, then I spin I break, then I spin Coin flip weather, coin flip weather I stay, I stay, I stay

Find the One
[Verse 1] Every face in the crowd looks the same in the dark I keep mistaking every flicker for a permanent spark I’ve been tracing little promises in late‑night smoke But every almost‑love just turns into another joke [Pre-Chorus] I’ve been running in circles through strangers and small talk Leaving pieces of my heart on every sidewalk Thought I’d feel it when the right one came along But the silence after midnight always proves me wrong [Chorus] Why’s it so hard just to find the one? I’m tired of dancing in a room that comes undone Every hand I’m holding fades before the sun I’m searching every shadow, but I still find none Why’s it so hard just to find the one? [Verse 2] I keep scrolling through their stories like a highlight reel Everybody’s looking perfect, but it never feels real I’ve been staying up too late with my hopes half‑charged Trying to fit a honest heart in a world this large [Pre-Chorus] I’ve been talking to the ceiling like it’s gonna respond Asking if there’s someone out there I can lean on Thought the universe would send a simple sign But every wrong turn just keeps stealing all my time [Chorus] Why’s it so hard just to find the one? I’m tired of dancing in a room that comes undone Every hand I’m holding fades before the sun I’m searching every shadow, but I still find none Why’s it so hard just to find the one? [Bridge] Maybe they’re out there feeling just like I do Worn out from the waiting, from the almosts too Maybe all this empty space is making room For a love that doesn’t leave before it blooms [Chorus] Why’s it so hard just to find the one? I’m tired of dancing in a room that comes undone Every hand I’m holding fades before the sun I’m searching every shadow, but I still find none Why’s it so hard just to find the one? Why’s it so hard just to find the one?

Too Fast
New song! Wrote this for Charlie, releasing a new EP next month called "Songs from Dad" all songs dedicated to her that I hope she grows with and cherishes. I've cried a few times recording this one and I hope you do it. This one means a lot. The lyrics are below: [Verse 1] You were just my midnight crying Now you're laughing down the hall Tiny shoes by the front door Big dreams taped on your wall You say "Dad, I can do it" As you put your own coat on I pretend I'm not trembling While I learn to sing your song [Chorus] You're growing too fast for me to hold But all that I want is to watch you grow Every inch you drift from my arms You get closer to who you are It breaks me It makes me It's all that I hope You're growing too fast And I never want you to slow [Verse 2] You start rolling your eyes at my stories You don't need my hand to cross I keep looking for the baby In the kid that I almost lost I take pictures like I'm praying Try to frame you in my phone But you keep on walking forward Out beyond what I control

I’m playing keyboard for Darren Hayes (Savage Garden)!
Hey fam, Just wanted to tell you about something I’m so excited to tell you about. I’m playing keyboard and piano and singing backups for Darren Hayes, the lead singer of the legendary band Savage Garden! If you don’t know Savage Garden you probably knows these hits of his: Truly Madly Deeply, I Knew I Loved You, I Want You, Insatiable and so many more. Truly Madly Deeply was such an important song to me and my music career because it was the first song I learned to play on piano. I was obsessed with their music and one of the reasons I love singing ballads so much is because of Darren. So how did such a round about thing happen? It’s all because of my buddy Trevor Yasuda. (Trevor is one of the most incredible music producers I’ve ever had the pleasure of calling a friend. He produced songs like Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey, songs for The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, and so many more) he’s the MD (music director) for Darren’s band for the last couple tours and one day a few weeks ago texted me and asked if I’d ever be down to play for Darren? My mind and heart exploded. I knew he was working with Darren on a new album but I didn’t know they were playing anytime soon. Fast forward to today and here we are - he sold out two nights at The Troubadour in Hollywood in less than an hour and we just finished a week long of rehearsals from 11a - 8p. We’re playing about 16 songs, so it was a lot to learn but luckily I knew a few of them already since I had covered them haha. I haven’t played for a band like this in a long time, and I never have played keys for anyone other than myself, so it’s so fun to do something new in a way that I’m confident in. The photo below shows my setup, so I’m switching between two keyboards: Nord: my Nord Electro is my main piano for the set. We have a song that’s just piano and Darren without a band, and some other piano driven songs that I use the Nord for. Yamaha Reface DX: this is my utility tool. I have it connected to Ableton Live as my controller. Depending on the song I’m switching between 5 different instruments. One of which is the exact same patch that is on the records I Knew I Loved You and Insatiable! (Thanks Trev) I’m also playing some synth bass stuff for some house sounding songs, as well as a string patch for certain songs, it’s sounding huge! I’m also doing backup vocals for certain song. (I get to sing the harmony I’ve sung my entire life for Truly Madly Deeply OMG!) And also playing bass for one of the songs, which I haven’t gotten to play bad in years other than just for my own music. Eli Cherry is our amazing drummer, Trevor is doing guitars, bass, and running and making the tracks, Nick is running sound along with Mikey and Darren is of course the star and legend for the night. Anyway, you can tell I’m so excited to play but also to tell you about this. I’m so glad I have Fanded where I can share this to people who know care about stuff like this (unlike socials) and can give you a real behind the scenes insight into such an incredible opportunity. I’m going to be wearing smart glasses during the next rehearsal and for the concert so I can’t wait to show yall my perspective. I heard a supporter of mine if flying down from Seattle to the show and was happily surprised to find out I’ll be there too! So if anyone here or anyone you know is coming I’d love to say hi! Thanks for your support and your membership. Love ya troop!

For Good
Here’s a little gift for you, Troop. Thanks for being here. This might be my favorite one I’ve ever done. My daughter Charlie loves this song so much, and I made this version for her. Ally’s been telling me to do it ever since the movie came out, and I finally sat down and learned it. Man, this one was tough. But it feels like all the best things in life live on the other side of the hardest moments. I hope this helps you get through your Friday. I can’t help but think about my daughter and how I’ve been changed for good, forever, now that she’s here. The video will be up today, and the song will be available on Spotify in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, feel free to download the mp3 here as my gift to you for supporting me on Fanded: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pRrsRTv4agI_f582xNyg0l1v-WZYkQT6/view?usp=drivesdk ❤️ Trav

My first lullaby
Hey troop, make sure to turn on text notifications so you know when I drop a new song here, like the one attached! I’ve been watching my daughter Charlie love watching ms Rachel, singing along and all her music and so I decided today to try out making my first lullaby for her. I picked her up from her grandma’s house, played it in the car, and she instantly fell asleep! This was just a quick demo I made but now I’m gonna finish it today, I’ll share it with you when it’s done. Also, just finished a live cover of “For Good” from Wicked. I’m working on that as well today and can’t wait to show you. I didn’t think I would be able to learn the piano for it, but somehow I did and it’s shaping up to be one of my favorites I’ve ever made.
